Cllr Anne Purse yesterday persuaded the County Council to help, with its partners, to look for funding to continue the hugely successful Wild Waste Show. The Trust's bus visits Oxfordshire's schools to lead children, through fun activities, to an understanding of waste issues. Anne said, "The Wild Waste Show has visited 75% of Oxfordshire Schools, encouraging recycling and waste reduction. It is because of initiatives like this that Oxfordshire has bucked the trend in preventing the huge increase of waste that other areas have seen. Oxfordshire is now recycling 30% of its waste."
Cllr. Zoe Patrick who also spoke in favour of the motion said "Education of our children stays with them for life and needs to be taken seriously. In the last 2 years the Wild Waste show has engaged over 12,000 pupils in waste activities."
Councillors of all four parties on the County Council supported Anne's motion.
