The popularity of indoor adventure playground in Abingdon, Snakes and Ladders, has been causing some parking headaches for local residents. When the facility's car park is full, visitors have been parking in residential roads and, more worryingly, on the bend of Audlett Drive outside the playground. This clearly endangers visitors, road users and residents alike.
In an initiative led by Abingdon East County Councillor Lesley Legge with Snakes and Ladders management, the Police and County engineers have explored several solutions to overcome the danger. Cllr Legge has negotiated overflow parking for Snakes and Ladders customers at the Abbey Centre during busy times. Snakes and Ladders have erected a large sign to advise their customers that additional parking is available and that parking on Audlett Drive may result in prosecution. The police have also put up their notices about prosecution for offenders and the county engineers are looking into longer term solutions such as double yellow lines.
Councillor Lesley Legge says, "The popularity of this local facility was causing concerns with local residents, now I am pleased that this action to resolve the situation has happened."
