Jean eating a school dinner
Jean Fooks is raising at Council tomorrow the question of how schools can be expected to provide hot, nutritious school meals for pupils without a proper kitchen.
"The Government is rightly concerned about the nutritional value of school meals," says Jean. "But some schools do not have proper facilities to provide fresh food. The money the Government is offering will go nowhere to provide a kitchen where there isn't one already.
"If we are to see a real improvement then capital must be available to equip kitchens. It is unfair that this is left to schools to try to raise their own money locally.
"If the Government does not provide this money, then I am asking the Conservative Council to see how they can help instead."
