Conservative Double Standards - letter to Oxford Mail

In yesterday's editorial column when discussing ways of encouraging people to find alternatives to the car to get to work and children different ways of getting to school you say that 'Oxfordshire County Council has been in the forefront of such moves...'

This is the same County Council whose Conservative members last week overwhelmingly voted to refuse to back the Lib Dem led City Council in supporting the European Car-Free Day this September.

So, free parking at weekends, threats to charge residents for parking in Controlled Parking Zones and not even a willingness to support a day which would symbolise the need to break-free of the car. Has someone told David Cameron that his own party in his own county clearly don't deliver the promise Vote Blue Go Green?

No Conservative councillors in Oxford City? No wonder!
