Many of your readers have suffered from the enormous delays being experienced by buses in the High Street in Oxford while the roadworks are in progress. This follows the huge delays in the Abingdon Road throughout last year. For example, I with other local residents, waited over an hour last week for the 35/35A bus which normally runs every 15 minutes. I was nearly late for a Council meeting! I know from first hand therefore that residents in Kennington and Radley are having a very hard time at the moment due to these delays, and this will be the same elsewhere I'm sure.
Does the County Council take into account the huge cost of delays to bus passengers and the effect this has on the attractiveness of public transport or do the Conservative County Councillors, none of whom live in the city and who all have access to free car parking, regard bus passengers as an inferior class of people beneath their notice?
Yours faithfully
Cllr Bob Johnston
