Cllr John Sanders (Oxford Mail October 2) claims that the Conservative-controlled County Council's decision to charge Oxford residents for parking outside their houses amounts to taxation without representation as there are no Conservative Councillors in Oxford. The simplest solution to this would be a fair-voting system (as promised in the national Labour Manifesto in 1997, but never delivered).
A fair voting system would prevent the Tories obtaining an overall majority on the County Council with only 35% of the vote and would ensure that there were Conservative County Councillors elected from the City area.
