It is now 2 years since all of these appointments were made to the ruling group, and despite our protests we were not given any places. We know other councils mix their delegations, and we also know that often out of the 3 or 4 places allocated, not all councillors are showing up. I saw this myself when I attended the last CCN meeting, where only 2 of 4 were there on that occasion. Attendance at ACTVAR, where Jean Fooks goes as an observer, she noted that of the last 7 quarterly meetings, on only one occasion did all 3 councillors attend. Indeed on one occasion, only 1 attended.

I also note from the list that there is a vacancy for one of the deputy positions on SE employers so this is obviously unable to be filled by yourselves, so I would like to offer to fill that position with Cllr. Roaf who, when he was Deputy Leader of the Council, used to attend.

So all I am asking for you to do today is to review the situation in the light of the past 2 years' attendances, and see if we can improve this by offering one of the places out of the 3 of 4 to members of my Group. We will ensure that we chose people who will genuinely wish to attend and have the time to do so.

Surely it makes for a better balanced council to share skills at these meetings? I hope you can agree to this small request.
