Abingdon Councillor Supports Local Library - by Writing Verse!

April 25, 2008 12:38 PM

Abingdon County Councillor Lesley Legge will be joining staff and library users at Abingdon Library to show her support for the library on "Join A Library Day". April 26th is the national launch of the biggest publicity campaign ever to encourage people to join and use their local library, and Abingdon library will be offering tours of the library, including the rooms not normally open to the public, and free refreshments between 2pm and 4pm.

Cllr Legge was inspired to catch the spirit of the event on Saturday, April 26th, and has written the rhyme below to help catch people's imagination.

Lesley said, "I know this is not good poetry, but I wanted to find a way to help support and advertise the wonderful service that the Libraries provide. People forget they are free but libraries are the backbone of learning and entertainment for all ages."
