Liberal Democrats elect Leader, Deputy and Shadow Cabinet

June 17, 2009 12:43 PM

Cllr Zoé Patrick has been re-elected as the Liberal Democrat Group Leader on Oxfordshire County Council. Cllr Jean Fooks was re-elected as the Deputy Group Leader.

The Liberal Democrat Group still form the official Opposition on Oxfordshire County Council; Zoé and Jean are Leader and Deputy Leader of the Opposition respectively.

The Liberal Democrats have also elected their Shadow Cabinet for Oxfordshire. Zoé said, "We have a wealth of experience between us, and we are all keen to get on with the job. We are the only political party on the County Council which has members both inside Oxford city and in the rest of the county, so we will be representing our residents' views on the issues that count."

Jean said, "Liberal Democrats will be making sure we hold the executive to account on the issues that affect people in Oxfordshire. In my new role, which includes economic development, I will particularly be concentrating on how the council can help people in these difficult financial times."

The Shadow Cabinet consists of:

Zoé was elected to the County Council for Grove (now Grove & Wantage) in 2001 and is also a member on the Vale of White Horse District Council. She has been Leader of the Opposition on the County since 2006.
