Don't Make Air Quality Even Worse, say Lib Dems

4.35.05pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 16th May 2005

Liberal Democrats will fight any moves that increase congestion and pollution in Oxfordshire. Liberal Democrats use public transport or bicycles whenever they possibly can, and will be doing so for the Council meeting tomorrow morning.

Group Chair, Cllr Jean Fooks, said, "We fear that the Conservatives' proposals can only increase congestion and pollution in the City. We recognise that not everyone can use public transport, walk or cycle all the time, and we will not be dogmatic about people not being allowed to use cars in Oxford. We will ourselves, however, use public transport or walk/cycle whenever we are able to. We hope that others will do the same."

The Liberal Democrat Group will be outside County Hall tomorrow morning at 9.30am with their cycles or bus tickets.
