Lib Dem New Leader Calls for Financial Monitoring

10.04.43am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 19th Apr 2006

Cllr Zoé Patrick addressed the Cabinet yesterday to ask for close monitoring on some key areas of the budget.

Pressures on the Older People's budget is still under scrutiny as actions taken to control expenditure have, in some cases, impacted on delayed transfers of care. Some of these delays are due to the NHS, however, there are some which are the County's responsibility and others due to the known shortfall in the Supporting People budget.

"This has been an area of concern for some time, and we need to keep a close eye on the situation as the NHS struggles with its own financial problems," said Cllr. Zoe Patrick, Leader of the Opposition.

"I am also concerned about the performance of the Council's new property consultants, Mouchel Parkman where things do not seem to have improved, despite promises made at the outset. I shall be making enquires about this."
