John Howell - letter to Abingdon Herald

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 28th Jul 2006

John Howell OBE has been a pompous and non-achieving member of the County Council since he was elected, making fun of others and making little progress on the job he has been given of "change management", a massive programme of administrative reform. The Conservatives are heavily dependent on his efforts in fulfilling their promise to reduce Council Tax year on year while maintaining good services. This depends on the economies he has promised to make. If he does not succeed, then woe betide the less well-off, the elderly and mentally ill in the County. John Howell needs to realise that Liberal Democrats have a set of values, including the maintenance of the Green Belt and other standards, which depend on consistency rather than making cheap jibes at others.

Yours faithfully

Bill Bradshaw
