County to Use Green Fuels

2.13.04pm GMT Tue 9th Jan 2007

Cllr Bob Johnston, Liberal Democrat Cabinet member for Transport, welcomed the unanimous vote today on his motion about the use of biodiesel and other green fuels in County Council vehicles.

He said, "This is a very welcome boost and encouragement towards green travel policies. It is most important that the County Council sets the best possible example in terms of sustainable transport rather than saying 'do as I say, not do as I do'. This, of course, is only a small part of a wider picture and will only make a significant contribution in combination with effective policies to promote walking, cycling and the use of public transport."
