Lib Dems Question Excellence of a Council that Cannot Keep its Promises

11.27.07am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 12th Jun 2007

The Liberal Democrat Councillors for Summertown and Wolvercote are asking the Cabinet member for Transport Implementation why the North Oxford and Summertown Controlled Parking Areas have not yet been reviewed. The question will need to be answered, in writing, at next Tuesday's full Council meeting.

When the zones were introduced in 2005, categorical assurances were given that they would be reviewed after 18 months. However, the local councillors (Jean Fooks and Dermot Roaf) have so far been unable to get any information on when this review will take place.

Jean Fooks says, "Why are residents not being told when their zone is up for review, so that they can feed their experiences into it? I do question the excellence of a council that cannot keep its promises to council taxpayers."
