County Liberal Democrats were last night celebrating success in Grove & Wantage after holding the County seat convincingly. The full results were:

Jenny Hannaby Lib Dem 1901

Bill Melotti Conservative 1786

Jean Nunn-Price Labour 382

The by-election was called after the death of Liberal Democrat Councillor Jim Moley, who died in January at age 70.

Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group, and fellow Grove & Wantage Councillor, Zoé Patrick said, "I am absolutely delighted to welcome Jenny Hannaby to the County Council. She has a strong track record of working hard for the community and she will make a real difference both locally and here at County Hall."

Jenny, who is already a councillor on the Vale of White Horse District and Wantage Town Council, has lived in Wantage and the surrounding area since a small child. Jenny has three adult children and is the proud grandma of six grandchildren with ages ranging from 3-19 years. She is a businesswoman running a family building business with her elder son, David.
