Locals Listened To - At Last4.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 15th Sep 2009 Cllr Zoé Patrick, one of the County Councillors for Grove & Wantage, today welcomed the County Cabinet's decision to plan for a new secondary school in Grove to cater for 1200 pupils and to include a sixth form. Two years earlier she had argued for this, but the County had at that time decided on an option of a smaller school of 600, minus sixth form. Zoé said, "I am very pleased that the County has changed its mind and decided to put aside adequate land for the larger school. Even two years ago, 600 pupils were already travelling from Grove to Wantage for their secondary education, so a 600-pupil school could have been full immediately with no places left for the housing development being proposed for the area. I've always said that infrastructure is needed before any housing and knowing that proper planning for secondary school education is now happening is a good step towards providing this."
